These classic dips require minimal preparation time, ensuring you can effortlessly impress your guests with homemade goodness.
Mom's Famous Ranch:
Kicking off our dip journey is my mom's renowned ranch dressing. Versatile and delicious, this dressing is not just reserved for dipping; it's the perfect accompaniment for a crudité spread, adds a burst of flavor to pizzas, and elevates salads to a whole new level. Your guests are sure to be delighted when you grace your table with this delectable creation.
Recipe:
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayo
1/2 cup buttermilk - may need more if dressing too thick
1 clove garlic
1 tablespoon fresh dill
1 tablespoon fresh parsley
1 tablespoon fresh chives
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar
** If using dry herbs, add a teaspoon of each.
Instructions:
Chop fresh herbs and mix all ingredients in a large bowl.
Let chill for an hour before serving.
Serve with a plate of fresh veggies!
**Ranch will stay fresh in the fridge up to one week.
French Onion Dip - The Homemade Way:
Moving on to another gem from my mom's repertoire, our homemade French onion dip is a game-changer. Unlike the store-bought mixes that rely on packets and sour cream, this dip is crafted from scratch – from the caramelized onions to the carefully selected blend of spices. The result is an irresistibly easy and flavorful dip that's bound to be a hit at any gathering.
Recipe:
8 oz sour cream
1 yellow onion
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons onion flakes
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon celery salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire
1 teaspoon beef concentrate
Instructions:
Slice onions into 1/8 of an inch and cook over low heat with butter until golden brown. Once done, let cool.
Once cooled, rough chop the onions and combine in a large bowl sour cream, cooked onions, onion flakes, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, celery salt, black pepper, Worcestershire, and beef concentrate. Blend well until combined.
Serve with your favorite potato chip or veggies!
